Protoss:
Some new and old issues that Blizzard still needs to address:
1) Zealot - The overall design of the Zealot is good but his running animation should be changed to reflect the Zealot's heavy armor. He still looks too nimble (like a ninja). Again his running animation is the same as the Demon Hunter in WCIII. The Demon Hunter is a nimble and agile character while the Zealot is supposed to be heavily armored and weighed down. This doesn't mean that the Zealot should not move quickly. It's just the way in which he moves that is off. The Zealot's voice however is taking shape and he's actually sounding pretty good. There are some discrepancies though. Most of the phrases sound great but the phrases where he says "Our enemies must be eradicated" and "Victory is the only truth that matters" and others have too much of an echo in the background. It sounds almost as if there are multiple people speaking.
2) Immortal - The design of this unit is still flawed because of its unoriginality. The Immortal looks like a walking Egyptian turret and should be redesigned to look more like a Protoss unit. Also, the Immortal's voice still needs work. His voice is boring and I think he should sound more like a Protoss AND should speak more in Protoss dialect.
3) Stalker - From the beginning I thought that the Stalker was a very good idea gameplay-wise, and he still is. His physical appearance still needs work though. It's already lame that the Protoss have two Dragoon-type units but to make them look uncool on top of that is, well, uncool. The stalker should not look so cartoony and should have a better walking animation. The animation on the Starcraft 2 Website is just ridiculous. He bobs up and down like he's a cheaply made toy or something. And as I stated in my last thread, I think the Stalker's voice is just awful. He sounds NOTHING like a Protoss unit. He sounds like he belongs in WoW or WCIII but certainly not in Starcraft amongst the Protoss. He must be fixed.
4) Phase Prism - Great idea and physical design. No complaints.
5) Phoenix - This unit should be removed from the game and there are many reasons why. First off, the unit just isn't cool looking. It looks slow, weak and fragile. The Protoss don't make their units out of glass or crystals, they make them secure and sturdy. The Protoss units in the original Starcraft always looked like they were much more powerful and better built than the units of the other races. The Scout, Corsair, Arbiter, Shuttle, and Carrier all looked very durable and cool. This unit does not reflect the Protoss style nor does it represent them from a functional point of view.
Secondly, the Phoenix doesn't look like it would be a fun unit to use. The overload ability is an interesting idea balance-wise but it lacks creativity and that element of "cool." I don't think the Protoss should have ships that can overload to do damage to other units. The Protoss are a powerful race with powerful abilities. If anything the Phoenix should just have an ability where it shoots out an area of effect blast, not a bunch of lasers by overloading. Overloading a fighter plane's engines or weapon systems sounds more like Terran ingenuity to me than anything the Protoss do. It just seems rag-tag and a last result kind of option. This is something that again I think would work for the Terrans but not the Protoss. It just doesn't fit them. Lastly, the voice is terrible. He sounds like he should be the announcer in a fighting game, not a Protoss fighter. Remove this unit; it really has no place in Starcraft 2.
6) Colossus - I still don't think the Protoss should be using laser beams, and I feel that this unit belongs in War of the Worlds more than Starcraft 2, but I've come to accept the Colossus. On the good side of things, his voice is great.
7) Warp Ray - This is another unit that lacks creativity and the "cool" factor. It looks like a giant flying flower. I mean you guys have sure succeeded in making the Protoss units look like fairies. This unit needs to be completely redesigned or better yet, completely removed from the Protoss. I do feel however that this unit would work well for the Terrans. Perhaps the Terrans should have these types of large units capable of taking down capital ships/buildings rather than fast flying fighters. Of course the unit would need to be redesigned to fit the Terran aesthetic style and should have an orange/brown or red laser like the Battlecruiser and Wraith had. For the Protoss though, just bring back the Scout. The Scout was an awesome unit against capital ships and is much cooler and more fun (I'm sure of it) to use than the Warp Ray is.
8) Twilight Archon - Something has to be done about this unit. It doesn't make sense that High Templar can no longer create a regular Archon and Dark Templar can no longer create a Dark Archon all of a sudden. Why did this happen? Is there a good reason for it? I doubt it. High and Dark Templar are very different units and I think their respective Archon forms should be different as well. Now I'm just going out on a limb here but perhaps the Twilight Archon should be a combination of both light and dark? T-W-I-L-I-G-H-T? That means a combination of both light and dark right? OK just checking. So this means that a Twilight Archon really should be formed by merging a High and Dark Templar. Anyways the actual design of the unit is great and I hear they removed the walking animation

Additionally, I would like to see the Maelstrom ability return. I think Maelstrom really allowed the Protoss to go head to head with the Zerg.
9) Phase Cannon - Awesome idea.
10) The Tempest - I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for saying this, but I think the Tempest should return to the game. I recently heard that it was renamed as the Carrier and its color was changed to yellow. I saw a picture of it and it looked terrible. There's no way you can have the Carrier in the game looking like that. That's why the Tempest should return to the game. The Tempest was actually a cool looking unit and really only needed to be much larger, have full shield coverage, and replace some Dark blue/grey interceptors in place of the Shurikens. Overall I think the Tempest would be great as long as it functions the same as the old Carrier from the original Starcraft.
11) Star Relic/Stasis Orb - Don't really know whats going on with this unit at the present so I cannot comment on it.
12) Reaver - BRING HIM BACK. The Reaver was one the most fun units to use in the orginal Starcraft game. There were so many tactics tied to Reavers and they were some of the best base raiders in the game. This unit has become a symbol of the Protoss and should definitely return. The fact of the matter is that the Protoss absolutely need some form of ground artillery.
13) Dark Templar - I have a feeling this unit will be redesigned to match the Dark Templar from the original game because of fan feedback. I could spend all day talking about why Dark Templar should not have armor have scythes (what the hell?) but I really do believe that Blizzard will change this unit once enough people see how bad it looks.
14) High Templar - From what I've seen the High Templar look pretty cool. I think the design looks a little too fantasy for a Sci-Fi Universe but at least he actually looks cool as opposed to units such as the Phoenix and Warp Ray. His abilities sound sweet though. The High Templar should return still being capable of casting Hallucination.
15) Mothership - The idea of this unit actually suits the Protoss perfectly (small numbers of incredibly powerful units) but the design is completely off. The MotherShip looks like a UFO, not a Protoss warship. It just doesn't look intimidating or powerful enough to be taken seriously. It needs to be redesigned to look more like a ship instead of a flying saucer. I still believe that basing the physical design of the Mothership on the design of the Protoss Warship that appeared in the opening cinematic of the original Starcraft game (not Broodwar) would be a good start. The Mothership is also a ridiculous name for ANY unit in ANY game. Change this. I also think the Planet Cracker ability should be renamed and please don't call it the Ion Cannon. That sounds like a Terran ability. In fact, there WAS a Terran Ion Cannon in the Single Player Campaign of the first Starcraft game (not Broodwar). Also, don't make the Mothership weaker than it was intended to be or nerf it. I mean if you're gonna call it the Mothership it better be one. Don't make it similar to the Terran Thor in that you can build more than one of them. It needs to be an all powerful unit and it needs to be redesigned.
16) Protoss Buildings - Most of the Protoss buildings to me look kinda silly. For some reason they seem much more polygonal and toyish looking than the buildings of the Terrans, especially buildings like the Nexus. I think you should seriously consider either giving these buildings more polygons or giving them more detailed textures. I think for the most part the Terran buildings look great.
17) Colors - The color scheme in Starcraft 2 is slightly off in that the colors are too bright and clear. The original Starcraft game had a much grittier and darker look to it than this game does. The colors should be toned down to avoid making the game look like Warcraft III. Also, please don't allow pylons or psi blades to change color along with team color. I can't think of anything less intimidating than a Zealot with pink psi blades. In fact, I think that pink should just be removed from the team colors. Its too bright of a color and it was never even in the original Starcraft game.
18) Shield Battery - The Shield Battery should be put back into the game. There really is no reason why it should not return to Starcraft. It was an incredibly useful building and helped in both offensive and defensive situations.
